Falsehoods of the Allied Nations¡Ç Victorious Views of History,
as Seen by a British Journalist Chapter Four: The Press Conference of Osaka City Mayor Toru Hashimoto and the ¡ÈComfort Women¡É issue By Henry S. Stokes, former Tokyo Bureau Chief of The New York Times We now present Chapter Four. This Chapter deals with the ¡ÈComfort Women¡É issue. Mr. Stokes first refers to this issue in relation to Osaka Mayor Hashimoto¡Çs press interview, based on his stance as a journalist and nature of the Foreign Correspondent¡Çs Club of Japan. Then he elaborates his thinking concerning the comfort women from a historical point of view. His conclusion is that ¡ÈJapan adopted an orderly form of catering to the sexual needs of soldiers in overseas battlefield. So as not to infringe upon the human rights of women in the local area, the comfort station was prepared. | |
